You are not alone.
Let's work together.
About Me
My name is Ursula Ferreira and I am a registered social worker providing therapeutic services for people who have experienced trauma looking to restore their wholeness and find healing.
I have worked and volunteered in social services with diverse client populations since 2019 and I am passionate about being of service to my community, helping people find a way back to themselves in the midst of life's challenges. I am always looking to improve my skills to better support you and, currently, I am undergoing two graduate-level professional trainings: Compassionate Inquiry and Somatic Experiencing.
What is trauma?
PETER LEVINE
“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.”
GABOR MATE
bessel van der kolk
"Trauma is what happens inside of us as a result of what happens to us, and that trauma is manifested in a disconnection from self."
"Trauma is not the story of something that happened back then, it’s the current imprint of that pain that lives inside.”
Therapeutic Approaches
Relational
A relational approach to therapy, as opposed to behavioural, focuses on the importance of the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. Trauma occurs within relationships and is also healed within relationships.
Somatic
Trauma lives in our nervous systems. It is stored energy in our body that, at the time of the traumatic event, was too overwhelming to access. I will support your healing by helping you safely access the felt sense of your emotional experience.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
We all have experienced this: "a part of me wanted to do this, another part wanted to do that!" We all have different parts to our human experience. When we experience trauma, these parts may develop in such a way that is not so helpful to us. Together, we will work to restore wholeness among all of your parts so that they trust that YOU are always in control.
“Nobody can fall so low unless he has a great depth. If such a thing can happen to a man, it challenges his best and highest on the other side; that is to say, this depth corresponds to a potential height, and the blackest darkness to a hidden light.”
